The Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi, Honourable Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi has charged Parents Teachers Associations of various schools in the Municipality to complement the efforts of the Municipal Assembly develop the existing public schools by resolving minor problems confronting such schools.
He said this on Tuesday, 13th September, 2016 during a tour of selected schools within the Obuasi Municipality to mark this year’s edition of ‘My First Day at School’. ‘My First Day at School’ is held every year to officially welcome pupils into Kindergarten One (1) and Primary One (1).
Honourable Ofori Agyemang Boadi in the company of the Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Maxwell Anthony Amoako visited the Mampamhwe R/C KG, Asonkore M/A Primary and Kwabrafoso M/A Primary respectively.
After presenting drinks, cups and biscuits to the pupils, the Municipal Chief Executive also advised the pupils to take their academic works seriously and be punctual in school. He further appealed to parents to invest in their children’s education to ensure that they become prominent members of the society.
The Municipal Education Director, Mr. Maxwell Anthony Amoako also said that measures have been put in place by the Education Directorate to embark on projects like reading competition, organize spelling competitions and inter school quizes for schools in the Municipality.
On Stakeholder involvement in improving quality of education in the Municipality, the renowned Educationist cautioned Churches who use school facilities for their activities would be made to pay utility bills and other general repair works or be banned from using school facilities for their church activities.
The Mampamhwe R/C, Asonkore M/A and the Kwabrafoso M/A had 96, 57 and 20 pupils respectively, present during the tour. The Municipal Coordinating Director, the Presiding Member, Officers of the Education Unit and the Municipal Assembly were part of the tour
