The Obuasi Municipal Assembly is set to embark on several development projects after recording an impressive performance in Internally Generated Fund (IGF) collection in 2022.
The Assembly exceeded its estimated IGF collection, raising Gh5,642,060.37 compared to the projected Gh5,050,086.00.
Following the success, the Assembly plans to construct an Urban park with an auditorium, a swimming pool and other recreational facilities to serve the people of Obuasi. Additionally, two cassava processing factories will be constructed in Sanso and Mimiriwa to provide jobs and prevent post-harvest losses.
Other development projects on the Assembly’s agenda include the development of the Obuasi artisan site, the construction of roads, school blocks, and Nurse’s Quarters. The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) believes that maximising revenue, especially from IGF, will provide the Assembly with the necessary financial resources to embark on these projects.
At a recent town hall meeting organised by the Assembly, stakeholders from the community, including Nananom, Heads of departments, Assembly members, clergy, and representatives from the Business community in Obuasi, were present to witness the Assembly’s plans.
The well-attended meeting also featured presentations on Agriculture, Health, Building permits, and Education. Participants had the opportunity to engage government officials on issues affecting them, enhancing social accountability and deepening local governance.
With plans for an Urban park, cassava processing factories, and several other development projects, Obuasi Municipal Assembly is poised for significant growth and progress.
