Mrs. Margaret Yaa Manu, the Obuasi Municipal Health Director retires after serving the Ghana Health Service for 40 years. Mrs. Manu who has worked at Tamale and Chireponi as a Nurse has served the country diligently throughout the period.
This according to the Ashanti Regional Health Director Dr Emmanuel Tenkorang remains key attribute of Mrs. Yaa Manu which makes her stand out.
Speaking to the media after an event to bid farewell to the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Tenkorang said Madam Yaa Manu has distinguished herself so well throughout her time with the service imploring the current crop of health professionals to emulate her shining examples.
“Our job is human-centered hence there is the need to maintain a strong interpersonal relationships, be hardworking and God-fearing. Mrs. Yaa Manu typifies them all. If one wants to progress in our profession, these are key attributes one can have “
On her part, the Obuasi Municipal Health Director Margaret Yaa Manu said she was satisfied with her work in the Ghana Health Service stressing that she has adequately prepared for her retirement knowing that one cannot work forever.
Mrs Yaa Manu who has served as the Municipal Health Director for Obuasi for close to 5 years said it was refreshing knowing one has to take a break after the daily routines in the service.
She however admitted that she encountered a lot of challenges during the period but said she was always well placed to surmount all the prevailing challenges during the period.
She also recounted what has been her trump card during her period with the service. She attributed her success in the Ghana Health Service to hardwork and passion for the job. She admonished health professionals to love their jobs and be ready to sacrifice.
