Obuasi Presby JHS Headmistress Appeals for Fence Wall to Improve Academic Environment

The headmistress of Obuasi Presby Junior High School (JHS), Madam Emelia Asantewaa Awuku, has made a passionate appeal to stakeholders to help construct a fence wall around the school to enhance quality teaching and learning.

Speaking during the school’s 5th graduation ceremony for the recent Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates, Madam Awuku emphasized that the absence of a fence wall has significantly impacted the school’s learning environment. She noted that the school, due to its open location, has become a thoroughfare for residents, leading to frequent disturbances during lessons.

“Because there’s no fence wall, residents pass through the school compound at will, often making noise and distracting both teachers and learners. This affects the focus and effectiveness of lessons,” she stated.

Madam Awuku also raised concerns about stray animals, particularly cattle and horses, that roam freely on the school grounds. According to her, these animals often invade the school’s football field and compound, leaving behind a mess and making it difficult for the students to use the space for recreational or academic activities.

She appealed to the Obuasi Municipal Education Directorate, the government, and other stakeholders to take swift action to address the issue.

“A secure and peaceful learning environment is essential for academic excellence. We call on all concerned to support us in constructing a fence wall to safeguard the school and improve the quality of education,” she concluded.
