Teachers of Anglican Basic School in the New Nsuta JJ Electoral Area have raised concerns over growing security and sanitation challenges affecting the school environment.
The concerns were highlighted during a community engagement forum organized by Assembly Member Honourable Mohammed Issahaku, which brought together residents and institutional stakeholders.
According to teachers, some individuals have turned portions of the school premises into a gathering point for smoking and other undesirable activities, creating an unsafe environment for both pupils and staff.
They also expressed worry over indiscriminate refuse dumping within the school compound by some residents, warning that the situation poses health risks and undermines efforts to maintain a clean and conducive learning environment.
In response, Honourable Mohammed Issahaku appealed to AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine to support the construction of a fence wall around the school to improve security and protect school property.
He further called on selected members of the community to help monitor activities around the school and report offenders to the appropriate authorities.
Residents at the forum expressed hope that immediate interventions would be introduced to safeguard the school environment and improve learning conditions for pupils.
