Trade Ministry takes over Komenda Sugar Factory

The management of the Komenda Sugar Factory says the company will start producing commercially in November.

Speaking with Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive Tuesday, the Secretary to Board of Komenda Sugar Factory, Ransford Amoah, mentioned that the factory which is in a transitional period is expected to start full operations by the end of October.

He added that although the company has requested private partnership, the factory will be handed over to the government through the Ministry of Trade and Industry in order to commence its commercial production with or without the private partnership.

He stated that it will be handed over back to the private firm that wins the bid.

According to the Secretary, some prominent banks have shown interest in working with Komenda Factory.
