UMA Job Opportunity: Plumber Needed

UMA is seeking to employ qualified, experienced and motivated Plumber to join their team. This is Obuasi based Fixed Term position with a competitive work roster at its operations in Obuasi. Remuneration package includes attractive salary and performance-based incentive payments for the right candidate.

Position: Plumber
Reporting to the Construction Forman, the incumbent will be responsible for installation, maintenance and repairing pipes, drains, guttering and metal roofing, mechanical services and related equipment for water supply, gas, drainage, sewerage, heating, cooling and ventilation systems

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
 Study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems and materials required.
 Set out and instal hot and cold-water systems and associated equipment
 Instal water-based fire protections systems, including fire hydrants, hose reels and sprinkler systems
 Design and instal sanitary plumbing and water supply systems, discharge pipes and sanitary fixtures
 Assemble and instal mechanical services plant, air handling and conditioning equipment and small-bore heating systems
 Instal sewerage and effluent pumping equipment and disposal systems
 Instal below-ground drainage systems and associated ground support systems
 General plumbing and drainage work to camp accommodation and mine site
 Repair and replacement of leaking taps, toilets and cisterns, water pipes, waste pipes, gutters and down pipes etc.
 Repair and replacement of sewer lines, clearing of blockages, hot water systems, repairs and replacement of solar hot water systems.
 Installation and maintenance of reticulation systems.
 Routine Preventative Maintenance, fault finding and repairs.
 On-call requirements to attend to urgent requests outside of normal working hours.
 Assisting all trades (electrical, refrigeration, general building).

Desired Skills & Experience

 Minimum of three (3) years’ experience with MinCom Certification or technical education in Plumbing
 Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving and operating licenses (C & E Classes) and able to drive.

 Previous work experience in underground mining;
 Previous labour intensive/manual handling work experience;
 Must have strong observation and analytical skills.
 Ability to demonstrate strong work ethics and be able to communicate courteously with co-workers.
 A strong focus toward safety and hazard identification
 Strong sense of urgency and outcomes focused.
