The Assembly Hall of the Obuasi East District Assembly was thrown into a frenzy after Assembly members overwhelmingly endorsed the President’s nominee Hon. Faustina Amissah as the District Chief Executive for the Area.
Honorable Faustina Amissah pulled 26 out of the 26 votes that were cast on Friday, 24th September, 2021 in an election supervised by the Electoral Commission. The Dce elect who was the incumbent Dce was first elected into office on August, 2018, but by dint of her hardwork, was reappointed by the President to serve another term.
In her acceptance speech the DCE elect thanked the Assembly members for reposing confidence in her to steer the affairs of the District for another term. She said ” This victory is not only about me but an endorsement over the kind of work Assembly members and Staff of the Assembly have put into developing the District. This is a victory for Unity”.
She called for the continuous support from all stakeholders to manage the affairs of the Assembly to bring development to the people and to ensure that the vision of the President for creating the District is realised.
In an interview with the media, Honorable Faustina Amissah assured residents of the District that she will not rest on her oars but will continue with what she has already done. She further called on them to pay their levies promptly to the Assembly. ” This is the only means available to the Assembly to bring development to you”, she added.
She again promised to continue with her Open door policy which will bring the Assembly closer to the doorsteps of the people.
The Presiding Member for the District Honorable Jeff Adjei told the Press he was not surprised with the outcome of the elections. He said the Assembly members had no option but to throw their weight behind the DCE judging from the kind of work she has done in the last three (3) years.
He said ” this is a demonstration that we Assembly members are development oriented hence the overwhelming endorsement. We will rally behind our DCE to make sure she fulfils her vision for the Assembly “.
The election was supervised by Dr. Francis Adomako, Ashanti Regional organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
