‘Your qualities will gain you the longest-serving MP in the fourth republic’ – Constituency Chairman tells K.T Hammond.

The chairman of the New Patriotic Party in the Adansi Asokwa constituency of the Ashanti region has assured the Member Of Parliament for the area, Hon. Kobina Tahir Hammond that he’ll do whatever it takes to make sure he becomes the longest-serving MP in the history of Ghana’s fourth republic.

Speaking on Obuasi based Shaft FM’s morning show monitored by Obuasi TV, Mr. Kwame Owusu explained that, they made this firm decision after the just ended Constituency delegates conference held in Adansi Asokwa due to the lawmaker’s good qualities he has exhibited and the way he has over the years lived with his people.

“Hon. K.T Hammond is a great politician, his qualities in Ghana’s politics are second to none and he has been good to the people of Adansi Asokwa constituency” he said.

“We want to break the current record of the longest-serving member of Parliament which is held by RT. Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin who served for 28 years as MP for Nadowli Kaleo, Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu is equally serving for 28 years for Suame, but we know he is likely not to contest again, Hon Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Assin Central has also declared not to seek re-election in 2024, after 24 years in Parliament.
Hon KT Hammond first went to Parliament in 2001 and by 2025, he would have served 24 years, we will make sure no one contests him in the 2024 and 2028 primaries so he can set a new record for 32 years as a member of Parliament for the good people of Adansi Asokwa” he added.

He further stated that it will be a work in futility if someone chooses to contest the incumbent MP, as such person will be doing so at their own peril.

“For years, people complained of no contest in the constituency as K.T. Hammond is never contested, we decided to bring in a contest but his opponent in Samuel Binfo Dankwa’s performance was nothing good to write home about and even made K.T Hammond’s vote surged higher in 2020 general election, we believe that the people of Adansi Asokwa wants him only so no one should try to contest him because it won’t work” he stated.

After the interview, the Obuasi-based journalist Chukwu Joseph, went to the Adansi Asokwa to check whether what the Constituency Chairman was saying is from the entire executives. The Constituency Secretary, 1st and 2nd Vice Chairmen, Organizer, Women Organizer, Youth Organizer, and other pulling stations coordinators also confirmed.

The Queen lastly said, “as a legal practitioner he stood as a proud descendant of Adansi and fought for the royalties belonging to Adansi Traditional Council which was locked up with the government to be released. These selfless acts of service won him the title Adansiman Nkosoɔhene with no objection from his opponents”.
