14 Political Parties, 3 Independent Candidates File Nominations to Contest Dec. 7 Elections

As of Friday, October 9, which marks the end of the filing of nominations, a total of 17 presidential aspirants have put themselves up to contest for the presidential election in December 2020, according to the Electoral Commission.

Three of the Presidential Aspirants who filed the nominations are hoping to go as independent candidates when cleared by the EC, while 14 are aspirants from political parties.

Mrs Jean Mensa, explained that the process was an important activity in the lead up to the December 7 Elections and that it is in consonant with regulation 7 of the CI 127 that enjoins a Presidential Candidate to complete and sign 4 copies of the Forms among other documents.

The Electoral Commission gave way for individuals and political parties who wished to contest to submit their nominations between 5th and 9th December.

The technical and Information Technology teams tasked to scrutinise the forms would submit their report to the EC Chair on Monday. The result of those who would qualify for the next stage would be announced to the public next week.
