Anglogold Ashanti has committed over One billion dollars into Ghanaian and semi – Ghanaian companies over a period of three years since it began its redevelopment drive.
Anglogold Ashanti is a multinational mining company based in obuasi and Eduapriem. Speaking at their 7th town hall meeting in Obuasi on Tuesday, the Senior Manager Sustainability, Mr Emmanuel Baidoo detailed the mine’s intention to strengthen local firms through contracts and outsourcing to empower them meet international standards.
He reiterated the mine’s commitment to see to it that monies from the company help builds their capacity. He advised low capacity companies to merge with bigger organizations to enhance their competitiveness and profitability.
Emmanuel Baidoo also revealed that the company has paid US$23,863,842 as direct and indirect taxes as of the end of September this year. He reiterated the company’s desire to contribute to socio-economic development in the communities in which it operates in Ghana.
