Be Professional in Your Duties – Obuasi MCE Charges Newly Recruited Community Police and Fire Assistants

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kannin, has urged newly recruited Community Police and Fire Assistants under the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to uphold professionalism and discipline in the discharge of their duties.

Speaking at a brief ceremony in Obuasi to officially post the recruits to their respective duty stations, Hon. Faustilove reminded them of the critical role they will play in strengthening safety and security across the municipality. “You are offering an essential service to the people of Obuasi. You must remain submissive to your superiors, committed to learning on the job, and never relent in your duties,” she emphasized.

The MCE expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for creating job opportunities for the youth, and to the Chief Executive Officer of YEA, Mr. Malik Basintale, for leading the recruitment and training process.

Municipal Director of YEA, Mr. Francis Nartey, also advised the recruits to demonstrate punctuality, discipline, and dedication. He noted that exceptional performance could open pathways for permanent absorption into the mainstream Police or Fire Service in the future.

On their part, the recruits pledged to follow due process, remain disciplined, and serve with dedication. They also thanked the government for the opportunity, assuring the public of their commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

In total, 33 recruits were deployed—24 as Community Police Assistants and 9 as Fire Assistants. They have since been posted to the Central and Bediem Police Stations, as well as the Fire Service Station at Boete.

The ceremony was attended by the Municipal Police Commander, officers of the Police Service and Fire Service, and the Municipal City Guard Commander.
