BECE Starts Today: 4323 Candidates Expected to Sit for the Exams in Obuasi

All is set for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to conduct this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), beginning Monday, July 8. It is expected to end on Monday 15th July,2024.

In all, 4,323 candidates from basic schools and private candidates will sit for the examination in both the Obuasi East and the Obuasi Municipality.

According to the Obuasi Municipal Director of Education George Alfred Koomson , a total of 2533 candidates made up of 1217 boys and 1316 girls will write the BECE in the Obuasi Municipality  at 8 different centres.

The  candidates are from 27 public schools and 33 pubic schools.In all, 1851 of the total number of candidates are from public schools while 682 are from private schools.

He told SMS News that all is set for the Exams with adequate security put in place to ensure incident- free exams.

In the Obuasi East District, the District Director of Education Kwabena Owusu Nketiah has disclosed that a total of 1790 candidates are expected to sit for the exams. This includes 852 males and 938 females. Eight (8) centers have however been designated for the exams.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nketiah has confirmed that the candidates are adequately prepared for the exams and prayed for a peaceful exams stressing that exams malpractice would not be tolerated
