The small scale miners who were chanting “No Galamsey, No Vote” started their march from their office at Tutuka opposite Amansan Clinic and ended at the Municipal Assembly.

They also destroyed the billboards of the PPP’s Parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East, Frank Danyasah, who swiftly took to facebook to express his displeasure at the action of the illegal miners.

“My bill board in Obuasi East has just been destroyed by Galamsey operator’s who decided to demonstrate this morning.

What country are we building, why do leaders always fail to say the truth, you have been massaging this Small Scale miners and A.G.A. problem for a long time! Why the Attack on my bill boards. Let us respect the laws of this country,” he wrote on his Facebook wall.

The Obuasi West NPP office wasn’t spared either, with all its glasses shattered and those who tried taking pictures had their fair share of the attack.

The illegal miners also went to the Municipal Assembly where the Millitary were already there to maintain order, though they didn’t achieve that without a hassle.

The Obuasi West Parliamentary candidates debate which was scheduled from 2:00pm to 5:00pm has been cancelled. Its yet to be known if the Obuasi East Parliamentary candidates debates which comes off tomorrow at the Boete school park will also be cancelled.
