Kwabena B. Tandoh (KB Tandoh) was appointed as the Executive Director of (AngloGold Ashanti) AGA Schools on July 20, 2015. There are two Schools in the AGA Schools which are the AGA School that offer the Ghanaian curriculum and the Williams & Brew School (WB School) that offer the Cambridge Curriculum.
Concurrent to his appointment as the Executive Director of AGA Schools, he also serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the educational consulting firm, Synergy Education Group, formally known as GATE Consultancy with a presence in Saint Louis, Missouri in the United States and in Accra, Ghana. Prior to joining AngloGold Ashanti, he was appointed the first Principal of Rising Sun Montessori Schools in Accra in March 2014. In February 2012, he was appointed as the lead consultant and Executive Director of Goodwin College Ghana, an American College in East Hartford, Connecticut. In May 2009, he was tapped by CTC International Schools in Lagos, Nigeria as a consultant and eventually appointed the Vice Principal for Academic and Students Affairs. Prior to his appointment at CTC International Schools in Nigeria, KB Tandoh served for 3 years as the Program Coordinator (Head of Department) for the Human Services Program at Saint Louis Community College where he also held the position of a full-time faculty member. The Human Services Program was the largest program at the College with over 800 students enrolled.
He was also a Residence Hall Coordinator at Saint Louis University for one academic year in 2007/2008. In September 2005, he was appointed as the Residential Area Coordinator for Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois but was quickly appointed to a concurrent position as the Director for Multicultural and International Students Affairs. During his tenure at Millikin University, he also served as the chairman for the Diversity Committee in the City of Decatur, Illinois, United States of America. From 1999 to 2005 and in 2006/2007 academic years, he served in a number of capacities as a professional and paraprofessional educator at the University of Connecticut. He served in positions including Residence Advisor, Peer Educator, Program Coordinator of the Health Professions Partnership Initiatives, the Program Coordinator of the Health Professions Academy at the Buckley High School in Hartford, Connecticut and the Community Based Education Specialist for the University of Connecticut Health Center.
KB Tandoh has also served as a legislative aide to then Connecticut State Senator Gary D. LeBeau as well as the legislative liaison to the Health Careers Opportunities Program at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Since 1999, KB Tandoh has been a UNESCO Comparative Human Rights Fellow and served as a Junior Facilitator in the UNESCO Human Rights Intergenerational Forum in Storrs, Connecticut in 2009. In 2010 and 2011, he served as a Senior Facilitator in the UNESCO Human Rights Intergenerational Fora in Rwanda and Italy respectively. He was a member of the UNESCO delegation to Ghana in May 2011 to explore areas of educational collaboration where he met with the late President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Evans Atta Mills at the Osu Castle.
KB Tandoh has served on the Institutional Affairs Council at Saint Louis Community College, served as the academic program reviewer for Missouri College’s Dental Hygiene Program and served on the prestigious Student Life Committee at the University of Connecticut in 1999. He has also held the position of Adjunct Professor at the University of Hartford in the Department of Sociology. He served on the Rowe Scholars Steering Committee at the University of Connecticut Health Center and was the President of the Organization of Black Social Work Students at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work for two consecutive years (2003 – 2005), the first person to be elected twice to the office.
In 2003, he was one of only 10 students awarded the prestigious Peer Educator of the Year Award at the University of Connecticut. He received the Outstanding Faculty Award at Saint Louis Community College in both 2009 and 2010 and also received the Service Excellence Award from Saint Louis Community College in 2010. He holds a BA in Urban and Community Planning and a Master of Social Work with a focus in Social Development and Clinical Practice from the University of Connecticut. His Ph.D work is from Saint Louis University in Higher Education Leadership and Administration. KB Tandoh is a prolific speaker and has presented at a number of national and international conferences and seminars. His speaking engagement and presentations has taken him to a number of institutions and countries including speaking at Valencia College in Florida, the University of the Ozarks in Arkansas, Millikin University in Illinois, the University of Ghana, and the University of Liverpool to Montreal, Canada and South Africa. He has also served on a number of Committees and Councils and holds professional memberships and associations including the Council on Social Work Education, National Association of Black Social Workers, NAFSA – Association of International Educators and the American College Personnel Association (ACPA).
