A group called Obuasi Golden City Association led by its Vice Acting Chairman, Paul Osei Assibey, has donated some items to the Obuasi Health Directorate and the Police Service to support them in the fight against COVID-19.
The group presented Teckytap hand washers and Personal Preventive Equipment (PPEs) to the Obuasi Municipal Health Directorate and the Ghana Police Service. Teckytap is a durable, portable handwashing station and a Water Sanitation and Hygiene intervention made in Ghana. Teckytap is operated by a pedal to dispense clean water during handwashing.
Speaking after the presentation, Paul Osei Assibey said the donation was made possible by the contributions of friends and individuals who have Obuasi at heart.
“Obuasi Golden City Association is a group of friends and people who are proud to have a connection to Obuasi and willing to give back to Obuasi communities” he said.
He added that some of its members are in other parts of the world but found it necessary to contribute to help fight the virus in Obuasi.
The donation included 6 Teckytap Hand washers, 1000 pieces of Hospital Hand gloves, 1000 pieces of face mask, 4 Boxes of Carbolic soap and 22 pieces of big size tissues.
Dr. Kwadwo Nyarko-Jectey, the Medical Superitendent at the Obuasi Government Hospital thanked the group for their kind gesture but asked other groups to emulate their example and also contribute to support Obuasi in fighting the pandemic since the items received are “woefully inadequate”.
The Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive handed over the items to the Health Directorate and the Ghana Police Police.
