Obuasi SDA JHS has emerged as the overall winner of the 2025 Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge in the Obuasi Municipality, triumphing over more than 48 junior high schools in both English and Asante Twi reading categories.

Representing the school and the municipality, Afia Henewah Annin, a talented student of Obuasi SDA JHS, was crowned the Obuasi Champion. She went on to represent Obuasi at the regional level competition held at the KNUST Great Hall in Kumasi, where 60 communities from 42 districts across the Ashanti Region competed for top honors.

After two weeks of intense reading and strong competition, Afia advanced to the final five districts and competed in the grand finale at Manhyia last Friday. Her exceptional performance earned her the 2nd Runner-up position, placing Obuasi among the top-performing districts in the region.

For her outstanding achievement, Afia received a fully funded scholarship to senior high school, a cash prize, a tablet, and other educational items. As one of the top three winners, she will also enjoy a sponsored trip to London, UK, as part of her reward package.

Afia’s success has brought great pride to the Obuasi Municipality and stands as a testament to the school’s dedication to literacy and academic excellence.
