A former parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East constituency in the Ashanti region, Mr.Frank Aboagye Danyansah has said, claims by the military that Obuasi- Wawase is a notorious town is never true.
‘’The place the military shot and killed the alleged illegal miner is a residential area and also where one can locate National Investment Bank, Golden Pride and other banks so for the military to claim that the area is a very notorious place, then am sorry”, he told Kesben FM host Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on Monday morning.
He said, apart from the death of one Agyeman, it was also reported that the unit committee chairman also received some slaps at the time he wanted to find it out what actually caused the death of their native.
Mr. Frank Aboagye Danyansah noted that it was clear the president indicated that they will use dialogue to prevent people from mining but not shooting as it has happened.
Mr. Frank Aboagye Danyasah in a further interview with the New Crusading Guide said, he can’t hide the fact that people don’t have the black stones in their homes because the stones one can process to get gold are in some houses before government declaration was announced.
“As a former parliamentary candidate and an opinion leader, I don’t think what has happen is in good direction because the military could have used a rubber bullet if indeed the boy was illegally miners as they are claiming”, he suggested.
According to the PPP former candidate, what the military is saying is unacceptable because per his information the boys were even watching the match between Hearts and Asante Kotoko yesterday and when they saw the military some run whiles others were still watching the match but none was arrested.
‘’I want them to come again and tell Ghanaians what actually happened that resulted in the taking of someone’s life”, he said.
Mr. Frank Aboagye Danyasah expressed his worry about the way the military and some section of the media is handling the issue because what the military is saying about the death of Agyeman is probably false.
He therefore calls on the police command, BNI, the Presidency, the military high command to launch an investigation into the matter.
