Obuasi West MCE Joins Muslim Community for Eid-ul-Adha Celebrations

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi Municipal, Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kannin, joined the Muslim community on Friday morning to observe the Eid-ul-Adha prayers in a show of solidarity and unity.

Accompanied by the Municipal Coordinating Director, party executives, and other members of the local assembly, the MCE participated in the special prayers held in Obuasi West, which marked one of the most important festivals on the Islamic calendar.

Addressing the congregation after the prayers, Hon. Appiah Kannin extended heartfelt wishes to the Muslim community and urged them to celebrate responsibly. She emphasized the values at the heart of Eid-ul-Adha — compassion, kindness, and generosity — encouraging all to embody these principles not only during the festive period but in daily life.

“I advised them to stay safe as they celebrate this festivity and also encouraged them to practice the values of compassion, kindness and generosity that this celebration embodies,” she shared in a post on her official Facebook page.

Eid-ul-Adha, often referred to as the Festival of Sacrifice, honours the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God — a story cherished by Muslims worldwide. It is marked by special congregational prayers, the slaughtering of animals, and the distribution of meat to the less privileged.
