Roads in Obuasi East to receive massive facelift after ‘ DRIP’  presentation 

Work on deplorable roads in the Obuasi East is expected to begin in earnest after the presentation of equipment under the District Roads  Improvement Program, an initiative of the government.

According to Hon. Faustina Amissah, the Chief executive of the Obuasi East district work will soon begin on the Ayease- Diawuoso – Jimison stretch which is a major concern to the Assembly .

Speaking at a short ceremony to handover the equipment to the Assembly, the DCE said the equipment could not have come at a better time when residents in the district have been complaining about the poor nature of internal roads.

The equipment received includes a tipper truck, a water tanker, two concrete mixers, a roller, a backhoe, and a motor grader,  expected to give major facelift to roads in the district which are in bad state.

” This will give our people some respite having endured commuting on bad roads for a long time. They have had to bear the brunt of the deplorable road network. We can only thank the President and the Vice President for this bold initiative “, Hon. Faustina Amissah added .

On his part, the Member of Parliament for the Obuasi East constituency Hon. Patrick Boakye Yiadom said the arrival of the equipment serve as a welcome relief to himself having had sleepless nights over the bad nature of some roads in the constituency.

Describing the DRIP as unprecedented, the MP said it will give a major facelift to some internal and rural roads in the district.

Dr. Boakye Yiadom seized the opportunity to highlight on major road construction currently ongoing in the constituency. He mentioned the Kwabenakwa to Mampamhwe road, Abusco junction to Abusco last stop, bossman town roads, Amansan to Odumase, a bypass from Kwabenafoso- Nkwadum- 7 days, Anyimadu main street, etc as roads which will be done before the December elections.

Kwabena Nsenkyire Dapaah the Ashanti Regional coordinator of DRIP is in fulfillment of the president’s pledge to ensure fair distribution of development across the country.

He added that the government recognizes the need to further deepen decentralization and allow people to own development in their area hence the DRIP initiative.

Mr. Nsenkyire Dapaah said stringent measures has been out in place including the formation of committees at the district level to supervise the operations of the DRIP stressing that, with the acceptance of work plans from the district, resources would be allocated immediately to work on selected roads.
