The Municipal Chief Executive of Obuasi, Hon. Elijah Adansi Bonah, has rejected several items including Nose masks, liquid soaps, sanitizers and cash donations which were to be presented to the Municipal Health Directorate by the Save Obuasi Now project.
This revelation was made by an Obuasi based public interest advocate and CEO for Danny Wise Estates, Mr. Frank Aboagye Danyansah on Kessben Television’s political talk show, ‘The Punch’ on Thursday evening.
According to him, Hon Elija Adansi Bonah rejected the group’s offer with the explanation that they do not need them
“The MCE plainly told us the municipality is doing OK and that our PPEs isn’t needed”, he stated.
The MCE criticized Nhyira FM, which is a partner of the donation for not consulting the Assembly before soliciting for support to provide PPEs for the Obuasi people. He also added that they are the reason Obuasi residents are stigmatized when they travel outside the city.
Mr. Aboagye Danyansah who was the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East in the 2016 elections, also added that he was surprised as to why the Chief Executive rejected the items considering the spiking numbers of case counts.
Donations were made by himself, Obuasi Facebookers, Hon Solomon Amoako, Nana Boadi, a business man in Kumasi, among other well wishers who donated in cash and kind.
