The St. Thomas Cathedral and its Youth Council in Obuasi have successfully organized the second edition of “My Next Chapter”, an annual mentorship and empowerment event designed to engage and guide Junior High School (JHS) graduates who have gained admission to Senior High Schools (SHS).
The event, which took place at the St. Thomas Cathedral premises, sought to prepare the graduates both spiritually and mentally as they begin a new phase in their academic journey. This year’s edition saw participating students receive educational and essential relief items, including 20 sachets of Milo, 10 sachets of Ideal Milk, one cup of sugar, a pack of Piccadilly biscuits, a pack of T-roll, and sanitary pads for the female students.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Kingsley Mayirina, Youth President of the St. Thomas Cathedral, explained that the initiative aims to remind students of their roots and the importance of maintaining a strong relationship with God as they transition to higher education.

“We want them to know that as they enter this new phase, they must not forget where they come from or the God who has brought them this far. That’s why we call it ‘My Next Chapter’,” he stated.
The Vice President of the Youth Council, Ms. Stella Anane Coffie, added that the event reflects the Church’s commitment to holistic youth development—supporting their educational, moral, and spiritual growth.
The program also featured motivational talks and personal experiences from invited speakers, including Mr. Charles Wundengba, CEO of Wundef Media; Madam Immaculate Bannan, an educationist; Madam Cynthia Boabeng, Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) Coordinator; and Mr. Samuel Boakye, a recent SHS graduate, who shared his journey and offered practical advice to the new students.

The event received massive support from Rev. Fr. Francis Darko, Cathedral Administrator, and Hon. Alexander Ackon, President of the Church and former Ashanti Regional Minister, both of whom commended the Youth Council for the impactful initiative.
Form One students are expected to report to their various schools on October 18, 2025.
The “My Next Chapter” initiative continues to serve as a model for youth mentorship within the Obuasi Diocese, helping bridge the gap between basic and secondary education while instilling faith, discipline, and purpose in the next generation.
