The vice President, His Excellency Kwesi Amissah Arthur on Saturday swerved the teeming supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Obuasi during the campaign launch for the aspiring Parliamentary candidates for both Obuasi East and West Constituencies, when he refused to comment on small scale mining which was been chanted loudly by some of the supporters.
Mr. Kwesi Amissah Arthur was the special guest of honour at the campaign launch that saw Mr. John Alexander Ackon and Mr. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi being officially outdoored to the supporters as their 2016 Parliamentary candidates.
The Vice President who after lifting the hands of the aspirants said, “The partial closure of the AngloGold Ashanti, Obuasi mine has been the worry of the President and we are going to improve the mine so it employs all unemployed youths”.
Some of the supporters who were not happy with Vice President for not saying anything about small scale mining spoke to Obuasitoday.com;
“Boss, we thought he was going to say something on Galamsey but he rather spoke only about AGA, how “an angry supporter queried.
A gentle man who was captured shouting loudly to catch the attention of the Vice President with ‘galamsey..galamsey’ also registered his displeasure “Mr. Ackon and King Zuba didn’t say much about the galamsey, so I was expecting Paa Kwesi to at least say it but he also didn’t”
The Parliamentary candidate for Obuasi West is the Ashanti Regional Minister whiles the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi contests for the Obuasi East seat respectively.
