Former Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Fomena Constituency, Kwasi Nti Asamoah has called on delegates to vote out the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako alias ‘Wontumi’ so that unity can return to the party. He claims the Chairman is a criminal.
Kwasi Nti claims Wontumi is doing business with the NPP party. According to the former ‘aid’ of Wontumi, the Chairman has grabbed many contracts in the region and he has refused to listen to advice when they try to advise him. He made these statements on the Obuasi-based Aseda FM Morning Show when he was interviewed by Obarima Kwadwo Gyamfi.
“Wontumi owns a security company which is providing security services for AngloGold Ashanti. The same company is providing security at Kejetia. The cleaning services company at Kejetia is owned by Wontumi. Odotobiri road contracts have been taken up by Wontumi.” he said.
Kwasi Nti said he doesn’t support anyone but he wants Wotumi to be voted out for the sake of unity.
He again claimed that money that was given to Wontumi in 2020 to be distributed to the media in the Ashanti region was unaccounted for. He added that the chairman is carrying out community mining at Manso Nkwanta.
“Ashanti region which is not the stronghold of NDC has an NDC regional office but NPP has no regional office. He sits on live TV to display gold bars. Wontumi is a criminal boy” he fumed.
The regional elections of the NPP will be coming on at the end of May and among the candidates is Odeneho Kwaku Appiah. Odeneho has been constituency chairman for over 20 years. He has been the Ashanti regional chairman of chairmen for 12 years. Kwasi Nti believes he has a track record of good leadership and could be a better replacement. Though he also believes the other candidates apart from Wontumi can do the work.
