A 44-year-old trader in Obuasi has sadly lost her two-month, two-week-old pregnancy following an incident she believes was caused by potholes on the Nyameso–Bediem road.
Speaking in an interview with Obarima Kwaku Nyamekye, a reporter with Wundef Media, the woman, who requested anonymity, recounted the painful incident and called on authorities to urgently fix the deteriorating road.
According to her, she was on her way to refill her gas cylinder when the vehicle she boarded passed through Mugabe Junction, using the road in front of Time FM, where there are several potholes.
She explained that the driver allegedly failed to notice one of the potholes and drove into it, causing a strong impact.
The trader said she did not immediately feel anything unusual and continued home after the trip. However, upon arriving home, she realized she had started bleeding and later discovered that she had lost the pregnancy.
The loss has been especially heartbreaking for the woman, who revealed that she had waited 17 years to conceive again and had high hopes for the pregnancy.
Speaking emotionally during the interview, she described the incident as devastating and said she was deeply saddened by the loss.
The woman is now appealing to the Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and other leaders in the municipality to urgently intervene and fix the road to prevent similar incidents in the future.
She believes the poor condition of the Nyameso–Bediem road, particularly the dangerous potholes, continues to pose serious risks to commuters and residents.
