AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine has launched a five-day STEM Bootcamp aimed at equipping basic school students with practical skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), as part of efforts to build the next generation of innovators.
The bootcamp, themed “Building Tomorrow’s Innovators,” is scheduled to take place from April 13 to April 17, 2026, at the Obuasi Robotics Training Centre located within Obuasi Senior High Technical School. Daily sessions will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The initiative brings together selected Junior High Schools from both Obuasi East and Obuasi West Municipalities, with each school presenting a team of six students and one coordinator to participate in the intensive training programme.
From the Obuasi East Municipality, participating schools include Kwabrafoso JHS B, St. Cyril JHS, and Owusu Sampa JHS B. Representing the Obuasi Municipality are Obuasi Complex JHS, St. Thomas R/C JHS, and Kokoteasua Experimental JHS.
The bootcamp is designed to provide hands-on training in coding and related STEM disciplines, exposing students to innovative thinking, problem-solving, and practical applications of technology at an early stage in their academic journey.
The programme is being implemented in partnership with key stakeholders, including the Ghana Education Service (GES), DreamOval, and other collaborators, reflecting a strong commitment to advancing STEM education in the Obuasi enclave.
