In a move towards enhancing the educational infrastructure within the Bekwai municipality, the Bekwai Municipal Assembly has donated 750 dual desks to the Municipal Education Directorate. This initiative aims to bolster the learning environment for students across various primary and junior high schools in the municipality.
At a formal presentation ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Kwaku Kyei Baffour, emphasized the importance of maintaining the new furniture. He urged the education directorate and teachers to take good care of the desks, ensuring they serve the students for an extended period.
“The provision of these desks is a step forward in our commitment to improving education in Bekwai. It is imperative that we preserve them so that many students can benefit for years to come,” said Baffour.
The Bekwai Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Leticia Obeng, expressed her gratitude to the assembly for their generous contribution. She highlighted the urgent need for such furniture within the municipality, noting that the desks would significantly enhance the teaching and learning experience.
“We are immensely grateful for this support from the Municipal Assembly. These desks are much needed and will undoubtedly improve the learning conditions in our schools. However, I must point out that many schools still lack basic amenities like washrooms, which remains a critical issue that needs addressing,” Mrs. Obeng lamented.
The donation will benefit 40 primary and junior high schools in the municipality. Among the primary schools set to receive the desks are Esiase RC, Dominase, Huntado, Kenssere, Gyasi Krom Methodist Primary, and Ntinako RC Primary. Junior high schools benefiting from the initiative include Anhwiankwanta M/A JHS, Pep Eden SDA JHS, and Senfo Aduam M/A JHS, among others.
