The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kannin, has cut sod for the commencement of eight development projects across six communities in the municipality.
Valued at GH₵2.8 million, the projects range from the renovation of school blocks and construction of washroom facilities to building of new kindergarten blocks, school canteens, and mechanized boreholes for both schools and communities. All projects are expected to be completed within three months.
Under the initiative, the New Nsuta Community will see the renovation of a four-unit KG block and an eight-seater water closet facility for the Presbyterian School. Additionally, the Parliament Road at Emuye will be paved to improve accessibility within the community.

At Anwona, the long-standing uncompleted three-unit classroom block will be completed and fitted with a modern WC facility. A mechanized borehole will also be constructed to provide residents with potable water.
Similarly, the Bediem Community will benefit from the renovation of its KG block, construction of an eight-seater WC facility, a canteen, and a mechanized borehole for the Experimental School. The communities of Kulem and Railway will each receive mechanized borehole water projects.
Handing over contract documents to the contractors at the various sites last Tuesday and Friday, Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kannin urged them to deliver quality work within the stipulated time frame. She emphasized that these projects form part of government’s “Resetting Agenda”, aimed at improving access to quality education and potable water for all.
The brief sod-cutting ceremonies were attended by traditional leaders, the Coordinafing Director of the Assembly Madam Joyce Akosua Angmortheh, Municipal Director of Education Mr Alfred Benjamin Koomson, Assembly Members, and residents, who expressed gratitude to the government and the Assembly for selecting their communities. They also expressed confidence in the MCE’s assurance that the projects would be completed within schedule.
Supervision of the projects will be handled by the Municipal Works Engineer, Mr. David Adjei, and his technical team.
