The AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine has officially opened applications for its AGAG Community Scholarship Scheme, offering financial support to brilliant but needy students from its host communities who have gained admission to pursue engineering-related programmes at the university level.
The scholarship package is designed to ease the financial burden on students and families by covering academic user and examination fees, hostel facility fees, and the provision of a laptop to support academic work.

According to information released by the mine, eligible applicants must either be natives of or have lived or schooled in any of AngloGold Ashanti’s host communities in Obuasi. Applicants must also have parents currently residing within the communities.
To qualify, prospective beneficiaries must have gained admission to the Obuasi campus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to pursue any of the following programmes: Civil Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Geomatic Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Mining Engineering.
Additionally, applicants are required to have excelled academically in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), obtaining an aggregate of 12 or better.
Continuing students applying for the scholarship must maintain at least a Second Class Upper Division. Beneficiaries must also not be registered dependents of permanent employees of any mining company or major contractor.
The scholarship is strictly for single-entry tertiary students and applicants must not already be beneficiaries of another scholarship scheme or be fee-paying students.
Application forms can be picked up at the AGA Sustainability Department, Obuasi Municipal East and West Assembly receptions, as well as selected media outlets including Aseda FM, Shaft FM, and Time FM.
The deadline for submission of applications is 15th July 2026.
Interested applicants seeking further clarification are encouraged to contact the Sustainability Office via 0559680586 or visit the office for assistance.
The initiative forms part of AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine’s commitment to supporting education and building local human capital, particularly in engineering and mining-related fields, to empower young people within its host communities.
