Prince Owusu Bonnah Donates 300 Mathematical Sets to Support Obuasi Students Ahead of BECE

In a show of support for education in Ghana, Prince Owusu Bonnah, a member of the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA), entrepreneur and philanthropist, has donated 300 mathematical sets to final-year junior high school students in the Obuasi East Municipal.

The donation, which took place on Tuesday, 10th June 2025, comes just a day before students across the country begin the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), a crucial academic milestone for junior high school pupils in Ghana.

Beneficiary schools included Tutuka M/A Junior High School, Mampamhwe M/A Junior High School, and Asonkore Junior High School — all located in the Obuasi East Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

Speaking to reporters after the donation exercise, Mr. Bonnah emphasized his strong belief in the power of education to transform lives and communities.

“I believe education is the key to unlocking the potential of every young person. These students represent our future leaders, and it’s important we all play our part to support them. This is my contribution to their journey,” he said.

The donated mathematical sets — essential tools for subjects such as mathematics, integrated science, and technical drawing — are expected to help ease the burden on families while ensuring the students are fully equipped for their exams.

The gesture has been met with gratitude by both students and school authorities.

Several students also expressed appreciation for the kind gesture, describing it as a source of motivation.

“I’m really grateful for this support. I now feel more prepared for the exam, knowing I have everything I need,” said Priscilla, a final-year student from Tutuka JHS who is also the Senior Girls Prefect..

This is not the first time Mr. Bonnah has made such philanthropic interventions. As a passionate advocate for youth empowerment and community development, he has previously supported education-related initiatives across various districts in Ghana.

His work with the UNA-USA focuses on global advocacy, promoting sustainable development goals, and encouraging youth participation in policy discussions.

With the BECE set to begin on Wednesday, 11th June 2025, Mr. Bonnah’s timely donation is seen as a significant morale booster for hundreds of young candidates preparing to take the next step in their academic journey.
