Wundef Media | July 2026 – Jesus Cares School in Obuasi has successfully held its Open Day and Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony, using the occasion to celebrate academic growth, showcase pupils’ talents, and reaffirm its commitment to nurturing children through quality education and discipline.
The event, held under the theme “Empowering Young Minds Through Knowledge and Discipline,” brought together parents, teachers, learners, invited guests, and members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) to celebrate the achievements of pupils while giving parents an opportunity to witness the progress their children have made throughout the academic year.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the graduation of 25 Kindergarten Two (KG2) pupils, who successfully completed their early childhood education and will transition to Primary One in the next academic year. The colourful graduation featured performances by the pupils, who received certificates in recognition of their successful completion of the kindergarten level.
Beyond the graduation, the school organised an Open Day for the entire student body, allowing parents and guardians to observe the various learning activities, practical projects, and creative works undertaken by pupils across all classes during the academic year.
Students demonstrated a wide range of practical and creative skills they had acquired in school, while photographs and video recordings documenting classroom lessons, educational activities, practical exercises, and co-curricular programmes were displayed for parents to watch. The exhibition provided families with first-hand insight into the teaching methods and learning experiences offered by the school.
Delivering the keynote address, the Proprietress of Jesus Cares School, Dr. Amina Achiaa Asiedu Amoah, stressed that education remains one of the most powerful tools for transforming society and preparing children to become responsible future leaders.
Quoting former South African President Nelson Mandela, she reminded participants that education is “the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
She explained that education should not only prepare children to pass examinations but should also equip them with the knowledge, values, confidence, and life skills required to make meaningful contributions to society.
According to Dr. Amoah, academic excellence must always be supported by discipline.
“Knowledge without discipline is like a ship without a compass—it has the ability to move but lacks the direction to reach its destination,” she said.
She noted that discipline builds respect, honesty, responsibility, perseverance, commitment, and self-control—qualities that enable individuals to achieve success in every field of life.
Addressing the graduating KG2 pupils and the rest of the students, Dr. Amoah encouraged them to remain curious, work hard, read widely, and continue pursuing knowledge with determination.
She urged the graduates to see their transition to Primary One not as the end of their educational journey but as the beginning of greater opportunities, advising them to carry the values of integrity, kindness, respect, and discipline wherever they go.
The Proprietress also commended the teaching staff for their dedication and sacrifices in nurturing the intellectual and moral development of the children.
She expressed appreciation to parents and guardians for their continuous partnership with the school, describing the home as a child’s first classroom and parents as their first teachers. She called for stronger collaboration between homes and schools in raising children who excel academically while exhibiting strong moral character.
Dr. Amoah reaffirmed Jesus Cares School’s commitment to providing holistic education that develops learners intellectually, morally, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
She concluded by encouraging parents to continue investing in their children’s education, quoting American statesman Benjamin Franklin, who said, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”
The ceremony ended with parents expressing admiration for the confidence, creativity, and practical skills displayed by the pupils during the exhibitions, reaffirming the school’s vision of empowering young minds through knowledge, discipline, and good character.
