The Obuasi East Parliamentary Candidate for the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Mr. Frank Aboagye Danyansah has accused the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. John Alexander Kobina Ackon of being heartless and insensitive towards the plights of the crippling mining giants, AngloGold Ashanti, Obuasi Mine.
According to him, the Ashanti Regional Minister who once worked in the mine with his Father should have been the first person to stand up for the maintenance of the mine not it’s shut down.
“My Dad worked in the mine with Hon. Alexander Ackon now Ashanti regional minister, at the Raise Borer department back in the 90’s,he knows the mine inside out, he has benefited from the mine and rose just as my Dad to become a senior staff of the mine. We lived together at Tiny Rowland Estate”, he stated.
The Real Estate Developer cum Politician made this statement on his Facebook Timeline earlier yesterday when news of the complete shutdown of the Obuasi mine broke out on Obuasitoday.com.
What Did AGA Do Wrong?
Mr. Frank Danyansah went on to ask the former Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive why he cannot use his current position as the Regional Minister and Chairman of the Regional Security Council to protect the Obuasi mine?
“Today he has the power as the Ashanti regional minister and the head of the regional security council to protect the mine. What has gone wrong Hon? What did the management of AngloGold Ashanti not do right?”, he queried.
He added that, the current happenings in the mine is a ploy to favour some group of people who are sucking on the mine as stated by the Chief Executive Officer of Randgold before their exit.
