Underground Mining Alliance Ltd. (“UMA”) is a Joint Venture between African Underground Mining Services Limited (AUMS) and Rocksure International carrying out underground development and production works for the AngloGold Ashanti (Obuasi) Mine.
UMA is seeking to employ qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions. These are Obuasi based Fixed Term positions with a competitive work roster at its operations in Obuasi. Remuneration package includes attractive salary and performance-based incentive payments for the right candidates.

Positions:
1. Bogger Operator – Manual & Remote
Key Responsibilities:
- The Underground Remote Bogger Operator shall report directly to the Underground Shift Supervisor and the primary role is to bog all development and production headings, load trucks and maintain road works with the operations in a safe and efficient manner for underground mining.
- Bog development headings and stockpiles to trucks;
- Keep trucks operating at full efficiency ensuring all ore, low grade, marginal and waste are kept separate;
- Bog out and clean, which may include inspecting for mis-fires including notification to shift supervisor, hosing down and scaling;
- Tram material from stockpiles and other bogging duties as required;
- Backfilling Stopes with Rockfill, Cement Aggregate Fill (CAF) and Cement Rock Fill (CRF);
- Keep all roads in working area tidy and free from pooling water and other potential hazards;
- Manual and tele-remote bogging of production stopes to stockpiles.
- Sound mechanical knowledge of Boggers and Trucks
Desired Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 5 (Five) years’ Underground experience in Hard Rock mining in a mechanized mine
operating Underground Haulage equipment.
- Experience with Sandvik LH517I, LH621, LH517 and LH514 Boggers in tele-remote bogging in underground mining industry is an added advantage.
- Backfilling Stopes with Rockfill, Cement Aggregate Fill (CAF) and Cement Rock Fill (CRF);
- Bogging rates of minimum Company parameters of Ton/hour Manual Bogging and 65 Ton/Hour Tele- Remote Bogging;
- Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving and operating licenses (C & E Classes) and can drive underground.
- Flexibility and willingness to assist with varied tasks and responsibilities
- Solid history in and Underground Mining Operations.
- Must demonstrate strong work ethics and be able to communicate courteously with co-workers.
- Must possess Equipment Operator’s certification from the Minerals Commission
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to work under pressure and have the desire to achieve.
- Ability to workday and night rotation
2. Underground Blastman /Charge Up Operator (Production)
Key Responsibilities:
- Use of a variety of explosives and initiating systems, depending on drill pattern, rock type and hole dimension;
- Handle and transport explosive material in a safe manner according to procedures
- Charge up and fire production headings or stopes;
- Ensure that all statutory requirements associated with the mining operation are completed in compliance with the Mining Act and related regulations of the Republic of Ghana;
- Ensure working area is safe for personnel and equipment to perform duties;
- Liaise with Geologist, Engineers and Shift Supervisors to optimize blast designs;
- Prepping Stope Blast Holes and produce an accurate Stope Prep plan;
- Demonstrate full understanding of Charge Plans and Charge Stopes according to plan
Desired Skills & Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Production charging;
- Experience with ICON Charging and Logging
- Experience charging with both Emulsion and Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil (Anfo)
- Demonstrate understanding and ability to conduct density testing of emulsion
- Experience in operating a Norment Charmec LC 605 charging unit is an added advantage;
- Sound mechanical knowledge of both the Normet and Hypercharge Unit is added advantage;
- Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving and operating licenses (C & E Classes) and can drive underground.
- Must be conversant with the Mining Act and related regulations of the Republic of Ghana.
- Previous experience working in Hard Rock Underground Mines (with International Underground Mining experience);
- Must possess Equipment Operator’s certification from the Minerals Commission
- Flexible and willingness to assist with varied tasks and responsibilities
- Previously employed in an underground charge-up role
- A strong focus toward safety and hazard identification;
- Must demonstrate strong work ethics and be able to communicate courteously with co-workers.
3. Dump Truck Operators
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for the provision of a quality and timely truck operating (haulage) service using articulated underground mobile machinery and ensure operational targets are met in a safe, environmentally compliant and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- To haul ore or waste materials from underground to assigned areas on the surface
- To work in coordination with the Bogger Operators to ensure full load and balanced truck;
- Be proactive in all Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives, reporting all incidents and potential safety hazards
- To operate 60 tonner Truck as required;
Desired Skills & Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in relevant or similar roles in a mining environment preferably
underground mining operations.
- Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving and operating licenses (C & E Classes) and can drive underground.
- Previous work experience in underground mining;
- Experienced with Sandvik Trucks is an added advantage
- Previous labour intensive/manual handling work experience;
- Flexible and willingness to assist with varied tasks and responsibilities;
- Ability to learn new task quickly;
- Good communication skills, both oral and written;
- A strong focus toward safety and hazard identification
- Physically fit for the demands of the role as this is a hard rock gold mining operation
- Proven ability to operate in a safe and efficient manner
