Lawyer Prince Owusu Bonnah Brings Hope to Obuasi Streets with New Year Feeding Exercise

Hundreds of street dwellers and hawkers in the Obuasi East Municipality received packs of cooked food on New Year’s Eve, courtesy of Lawyer Prince Owusu Bonnah, a UNA-USA advocacy member, philanthropist, and entrepreneur, as part of his “Street Feeding” initiative.

The exercise saw volunteers move through the principal streets of Obuasi East, distributing food to people living and working on the streets. Many beneficiaries, beaming with smiles, eagerly received the meals as they continued their daily activities under the scorching sun—some hawking goods while others begged for alms.

Speaking to the media, Lawyer Prince Owusu Bonnah explained that the initiative was motivated by the reality that many street dwellers cannot afford a decent meal, especially during festive periods. He said the Street Feeding project was therefore included in his New Year activities to bring relief and dignity to the less privileged.

He also called on opinion leaders and stakeholders in Obuasi to come together to support young people living on the streets by enrolling them in school, equipping them with employable skills, and providing proper shelter to secure their future.

Lawyer Bonnah further revealed that under the Prince Owusu Bonnah Foundation, plans are underway to offer skills training in areas such as bead making, soap making, sewing, and other vocational activities. In addition, the foundation intends to support hospitals and CHPS compounds with medical equipment, renovate and paint dilapidated schools in Obuasi East, and provide school uniforms and sandals for needy pupils.

He stressed that collective effort and sustained support are key to transforming the lives of vulnerable individuals and building a more inclusive community in Obuasi East.
