“Look at me and be encouraged to study hard” – Obuasi East MP to Students

The Member of Parliament for Obuasi East, Hon. Patrick Boakye Yiadom, has asked students to look up to him if they need the motivation to study hard. The doctor cum Politician also commended the NPP government for the introduction of the free education policy which has made senior high education accessible to all. He said this at the recent Maiden Obuasi East Independence Day celebration.

The celebration which was dubbed ‘Celebrating Peace and Unity’ was attended by the District Chief Executive of Obuasi East, the Member of Parliament for Obuasi East, Obuasi East District Assembly Presiding Member, Assembly members, schools, the media, among others. Twenty-three schools were invited for the March Past which comprised of ten primary schools, eleven junior high schools and two senior high schools.

“About twenty schools are here for this occasion and I encourage all the students to take their studies serious”, he said.

“Free education by the NPP has made education accessible to everyone. Now the minimum education one can attain is senior high school and this empowers the students enough for the real world”, he added.

“I studied hard and became a doctor and now I am the MP for Obuasi East. If not for anything, they (students) should look at me and be encouraged to study hard”

The Lawmaker worked at the Bryant Mission Hospital at Boete in the Obuasi East district before getting the nod to represent his party in the 2016 elections.

Upon coming to power, he has worked to increase the number of schools in Obuasi East under the school feeding program. In November 2017, he promised to grass three football pitches in the district. Work has so far begun on the Boete school park.
