Marian Gifty Mensah is a distinguished fashionpreneur and CEO of Magmens Couture, a leading bespoke and couture fashion brand based in Obuasi, Ashanti Region. Born and raised in Obuasi, Marian has turned her childhood passion for sewing into a thriving business that serves clients both locally and internationally.
She holds a Bachelor of Education in Home Economics (Clothing and Textiles specialization) from the University of Cape Coast (2013) and an HND in Fashion Design Technology from Takoradi Technical University (2005). Her fashion journey began as a hobby in her teenage years, creating designs for family and friends, which eventually evolved into her professional calling.
Before fully venturing into fashion, Marian worked as a personal assistant to the Presiding Member of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly and spent six years at the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) in Obuasi. In 2015, driven by her passion, she founded Magmens Couture, which has since become one of Ghana’s leading fashion brands.
Marian’s career is marked by several achievements, including winning the inaugural “Fashion Guru Sewing Bee” on Joy Prime TV in 2016, being a finalist in the VLISCO Fashion Fund Competition in 2017, and receiving the Fashion Excellence Award at Bryte Africa Fashion Week in 2019.
For Marian, success is about the positive impact one makes. She has trained over 30 young women in fashion design and collaborates with tertiary institutions to provide internship opportunities. She is also a patron of Sikapa for Girls, a nonprofit initiative focused on skills training for vulnerable girls.
