Accra, Ghana – Wundef Media | August 2026 – Mood Digital Services Ltd (MDSL), a technology company, has donated 50 HP laptops and a range of other technology equipment to the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) to strengthen the Commission’s information technology, intelligence gathering and regional operations.
The donation is intended to enhance NACOC’s technological capacity as it tackles the growing threat of illicit drug trafficking and related activities, including the increasing use of digital and cyber platforms by persons involved in the drug trade.
In addition to the 50 HP laptops, the donation includes an industrial printer, two servers, two 2,000VA UPS units, five projectors, a drone and drone bag, four all-in-one computers, 10 1,200VA UPS units and five iPads.
The items were presented at the NACOC headquarters, where the Commission’s Director-General, Major General Maxwell Obuba Mantey, expressed appreciation to the management of Mood Digital Services Ltd for supporting the Commission in the discharge of its mandate.
Maj. Gen. Obuba Mantey said the equipment would significantly improve the Commission’s operational strategies and assured that the items would be put to effective use.
He said the changing nature of illicit drug trafficking and abuse, particularly the use of cyber channels by individuals and networks involved in the illegal drug trade, has become a major concern for the Commission.
According to him, NACOC is working to adapt its strategies and capabilities to respond to emerging forms of drug-related crime.
Maj. Gen. Obuba Mantey also appealed to other companies and organisations to partner with NACOC by providing technological, logistical and other forms of support to help combat the country’s drug trafficking challenges.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Mood Digital Services Ltd, Daniel Afari, stressed the importance of collaboration between the private sector and public institutions in addressing national challenges.
Mr. Afari said the company’s support would not be a one-off intervention, indicating that MDSL intends to extend technological assistance to NACOC’s Regional Commands to strengthen their information technology capabilities.
He further disclosed that his company would continue collaborating with the Commission, particularly on the proposed mandatory drug testing exercise, by providing technical and logistical support.
The donation is expected to improve NACOC’s ability to process information, support intelligence-led operations and deploy technology in the fight against drug trafficking and related criminal activities.
The partnership also highlights the growing role of technology in modern law enforcement, particularly as criminal networks increasingly exploit digital platforms and other technological tools to facilitate illicit activities.
