The Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi has assured the people of Obuasi of a state of the modern art Emergency and Accident Unit within the Obuasi Government Hospital by the first quarter of 2017.

The Municipal Chief Executive made these statements in his speech at a programme organized by AngloGold Ashanti, Obuasi Mine, to donate medical supplies to the Obuasi Government hospital earlier Tuesday Morning at the Hospital’s forecourt.

“Let me take this opportunity to also say the Obuasi Municipal Assembly is considering building a state of the modern art Emergency and Accident Unit which will save us the cost of traveling all the time to Okomfo Anokye Hospital”, he said.

 According to him, the soaring population in the Municipality has called for the need of an Emergency unit which will not only serve the people of Obuasi but that of the close Districts and towns.

When asked when this project will see the light of day, he had this to say;

“We are going to put it into the 2017 budget which will be read in October, so just after that, we will implement it in January 2017”, he further explained.

The Municipal Chief Executive together with the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. John Alexander Kobina Ackon came to support AGA to donate equipment worth GHC 1.3 Million to the government hospital.
