OBUASI, GHANA — More than 100 young people have participated in this year’s Purity Camp, an initiative by Acts of Grace Foundation aimed at helping children develop strong Christian values, confidence and a sense of purpose.
The three-day camp, held from Tuesday, August 4 to Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Bacnof Schools in Obuasi, brought together 102 children between the ages of 8 and 17 from communities including Obuasi, Kumasi, Accra and New Edubiase.
Speaking to Wundef Media, Adelaide Deavor Abena Assempah, PRO of Acts of Grace Foundation, said the organisers were committed to helping young people make positive choices from an early age.
“We want children to live a pure and purposeful life. We believe in catching them young,” she said.
The non-denominational camp featured Bible-centred teachings on purity, identity, relationships, emotions and purpose, as well as prayer, worship, mentorship and interactive discussions.
Participants also took part in practical sessions covering cooking, personal hygiene, godly etiquette, menstrual management and other important life skills.
According to Abena, 30 participants also received the gift of speaking in tongues during the camp. She encouraged more children to participate when the programme returns in the first week of August next year.
For participants, the camp provided both spiritual and social benefits.
Bless, a graduate of Bacnof Schools and a member of the Presbyterian Church, said the programme had improved her confidence.
“The camp has impacted my life. Aside spirituality, we also learnt how to conduct ourselves,” she said.
Another participant, Jude Kwarteng Adu of Rhema Salvation International School and Resurrection Power and Living Bread Ministry, said the camp helped him strengthen his relationship with other young Christians.
“I made good friends who help me in Christianity. We also learn about Christ and know Him more,” he said.
Benedicta Appiah, also a graduate of Bacnof Schools and a member of Mercies of God’s Throne Chapel, encouraged other teenagers to join the programme.
“My Christian life has improved. I will encourage my fellow teenagers to come. They will not only learn but will also get the opportunity to socialise with others,” she said.
The organisers said the Purity Camp seeks to raise a generation of purpose-driven young people who can stand out in their conduct, love, faith and purity, guided by the principles of 1 Timothy 4:12.
The organisers are inviting children aged 8 to 17 to participate in next year’s edition, scheduled for the first week of August.
