Madam Getty, a teacher, Girl Child Coordinator, and School Secretary at Obuasi Methodist Primary School “B”, has donated a pad bank to support female students in the school. This initiative, launched as part of her 40th birthday celebration, aims to ensure that young girls have access to sanitary pads, reducing the stress, discomfort, and anxiety many experience during menstruation.
Madam Getty has been a teacher at Obuasi Methodist Primary School “B” for 15 years and is widely recognized for her dedication to student welfare. She goes beyond her teaching duties to feed needy students, provide school uniforms, and supply essential school materials to those who struggle financially.
Her care extends to both male and female learners. She has founded an adolescent club where she teaches life skills such as cooking and talent development, ensuring that all students—regardless of gender—are equipped with valuable knowledge for their future.

In addition to her work within the school, Madam Getty is known for her selfless commitment to orphans and underprivileged children, often spending her own money to support them.
Donating the items, Madam Getty expressed heartfelt gratitude to her sponsors in Ghana and abroad, whose support helped make the project possible. She acknowledged the crucial role they played in empowering young girls through menstrual hygiene support.
She also took the opportunity to call on Ghana’s President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, to consider introducing a national initiative to provide sanitary pads in basic schools across the country. According to her, many young girls miss school due to a lack of menstrual hygiene products, affecting their education and confidence.

Furthermore, Madam Getty pleaded with corporate organizations and well-meaning citizens to donate sanitary pads to schools in their communities. She emphasized that menstrual health should not be a barrier to education and that collective efforts can help young girls focus on learning without fear or shame.
Several students who have benefited from Madam Getty’s generosity expressed their appreciation, sharing stories of how her support has made a positive impact on their lives. They prayed for God’s blessings and more strength for her so that she can continue her humanitarian work.
The Head Teacher of Obuasi Methodist Primary School “B” also commended Madam Getty for her kindness and commitment to the well-being of students. He noted that her contribution goes beyond the classroom, as she creates a safe and supportive environment for all learners.
Additionally, he acknowledged her husband, Mr. Ennin, for his immense support in helping bring this project to life.
Madam Getty’s selfless efforts have inspired many teachers from other schools to take similar actions, recognizing the importance of supporting students beyond academics.
