Skeleton of Missing 85-Year-Old Woman Discovered in Bush After Months-Long Search

The skeletal remains of an 85-year-old woman, Obaapanin Adwoah Takyiwaa, popularly known as Adwoah Gonja, have been discovered in a bush near Camp 15 in the Bia East District after she had been missing for approximately three to four months.

Madam Takyiwaa, a mother of six—three sons and three daughters, was reported missing several months ago. Despite extensive efforts by her children and community members to locate her, all attempts proved unsuccessful until a recent discovery by local hunters.

According to reports, the hunters were in the bush when their dogs began barking persistently. The dogs led them to a specific location where they stumbled upon a human skeleton. Recognizing the seriousness of their find, the hunters halted their activities and rushed back to inform community elders.

The community leadership, together with the local police and a team from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), visited the scene to examine the remains. After preliminary investigations, the skeleton was identified as that of the missing woman, Madam Adwoah Takyiwaa.

Nana Osei, the Okyeame (linguist) of Camp 15, confirmed the discovery to the media. He stated that before retrieving the remains, traditional leaders poured libation at the site to seek spiritual permission and to pray for the peaceful rest of Madam Takyiwaa’s soul.
