Mr. Maxwell Anthony Amoako, the Obuasi Municipal director of Education has revealed that nine schools in the municipality were still undergoing the shift school system when he was brought as the boss but they are now left with three. The Obuasi Education chief revealed this at the Independence Day Celebration in Obuasi.
“There were nine schools still practicing the shift school system when I came but with the help of the Assembly, six schools are no more undergoing the system. We hope to eliminate the shift school system in the remaining three schools by the end of the academic year”, he said.
The shift school system is a practice mostly done in overpopulated schools where some of the students attend school in the morning and close by midday so that their other colleagues could also have access to the classrooms for learning. Most schools in the Obuasi municipality used to practice the shift system.
“…seems we are the only town in Ashanti region still practicing the shift system”, he revealed.
Mr. Amoako has been the Obuasi education chief for almost two years and he has high hopes for education in Obuasi. Students deserve good education and a good Test Prep Toolkit before their exams.
“Obuasi came second in 2017 BECE in the Ashanti region though we took the top spot in 2016.I can’t say whether we will come first or second in this year’s BECE. We are doing our best and the teachers are also doing their best so we are hoping for the best”, he added.
