Over 1.4 million Ghanaians to benefit from AGAMal’s 2025 Indoor Residual Spraying Campaign against malaria

AngloGold Ashanti Malaria Control (AGAMal), in partnership with the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP) under the Ghana Health Service (GHS), will launch its 2025 Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) campaign on 7 April 2025. Running for 11 weeks until 20 June, the campaign aims to provide protection for over 1.4 million Ghanaians against malaria while advancing Ghana’s 2024–2028 malaria elimination strategy.

The operation covers 16 districts, including all eleven (11) in the Upper West Region, three (3) in the Upper East Region (Kassena Nankana West, Builsa North, and Builsa South), and two (2) in the Ashanti Region (Obuasi East and Obuasi West). Specially trained spray operators from operational districts will apply WHO-approved insecticides, Vectron T500 and Fludora Fusion, to the interior walls of homes. These insecticides will provide year-round protection against malaria. They are odourless, non-staining on walls, and highly effective, helping to reduce malaria transmission and protect entire communities.

Fully funded by the Global Fund, with support from AngloGold Ashanti, the campaign remains free for all residents in operational areas. Beyond its public health impact, the intervention will also create 1,400 temporary jobs, contributing to local economic empowerment and livelihood.

AGAMal urges all residents to take an active role in protecting their families and communities by opening their doors to spray teams. Together, we can eliminate malaria for good.
