NDC, INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES BOYCOTT NCCE’S PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE IN OBUASI EAST 

Ahead of the 2024 December 7, General Election, the National commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in Obuasi East Municipal Assembly organized a parliamentary debate for the Parliamentary Candidates in the Obuasi East constituency.

The national commission for civic education has constantly embarked on parliamentary dialogue over the years during general elections.

This event gives parliamentary candidates the platform to discuss matters of concern to the voters in the constituency as it also provides a platform for aspirants to communicate their plans of solving the existing problems and how they intend to improve the living conditions of their constituents.

The Municipal Director of the National Commission for Civic Education, Jennifer Ofori, said the main reason for theparliamentary dialogue is for the aspirants to share with the people their vision, mission and policies they have for their constituents and also to clear all misinformation circulated by the opponent. It also gives electorate the opportunity to ask questions of concern.

The most important thing from this dialogue is that, voters get the opportunity to listen to the manifesto of aspirants, ask questions and make an inform decision whether it will have a positive impact on them or not and also decide whom to vote for.

Finally, she expressed her displeasure dissatisfaction on the part of the independent candidate and that of the NDC parliamentary candidate, Samuel Aboagye for not showing up upon given them prior notice and invitation.

As we approach the upcoming elections, I am excited to share my policy and achievement and outline my vision for our constituency future said Hon. Patrick Boakye- Yiadom, MP And Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East Constituency.

On economic development he said his major priority is to boost local economic growth. “I have worked tirelessly to attract new businesses, support existing ones, and create jobs hence the construction of Gari Processing factory at Mampamhwe. Our constituency has seen a significant increase in employment, with a focus on sustainable and innovative industries.

Education and Healthcare, I have also been committed to improving our educational and healthcare systems. I have invested in school infrastructure, by constructing school buildings, providing furniture’s, tablet distribution, establishment of a modern Library and a computer lab, funding for educational programs, and expanded healthcare services to reach more communities. 

On his future plans on education, he said when voted for he is going to ensure the establishment of Nursing Training Colleges within the Constituency. 

As we look to the future, my commitment to our communities remains unweaving. I am dedicated to continuing our progress, addressing emerging challenges, and ensuring that our constituency remains a vibrant, inclusive, and prosperous place to live.

Nana Kwamoa Bosompem advised the youth to refrain from engaging in any form of violence or destructive behavior that could compromise the peace and stability of the constituency.

He also tasked aspirants to promote peace and unity among the youth and their supporters to be ambassadors of peace and unity by promoting respectful dialogue and constructive engagement with others, even in the face of different opinions.

Finally, he urged the youth to focus on the issues that matter, rather than attacking personalities or engaging in divisive rhetoric
